Aging in place is not only a popular choice for seniors looking to maintain their independence at home, but it also could be the healthiest option as well.
As the national death toll continues to rise due to COVID-19, a new report was released by the Kaiser Family Foundation where the data shows an alarming number of fatalities (in the states who reported numbers), came from long-term care facilities. Out of the 37 states who reported COVID-19 cases, the results showed that there were 128,098 cases of COVID-19 in nursing home facilities. In addition, 33 states shared their statistics regarding fatalities and 38% of those deaths came from long-term care facilities in their respective states. In an article from The Guardian, they break down the numbers and share insights from states around the country.
